Kyiv-based studio Hello Andromeda has revealed Sarco, a single-session survival horror game where players must maintain line of sight with a trapped cosmic entity to stop it from escaping.
Set within a gutted scientific research facility, the game places players in a race against time. The sealed sarcophagus containing the alien entity slowly opens whenever the player turns away. To survive, players must venture into surrounding corridors to gather essential resources like oxygen and search for an exit, while constantly returning to observe the entity. Each time players check on the sarcophagus, the entity modifies its behavior, forcing continuous adaptation to new threats.
Sarco eschews traditional jump scares in favor of persistent, psychological tension. The developers designed the experience without a save function, expecting players to complete the full run in a single sitting. The studio cites titles such as Alien: Isolation, Paratopic, and Blackshard as key design influences.
The project originated as an unprogrammed development effort while the studio took a short break from its open-world title, Fog'n'Silence. Sarco is scheduled for release on PC later this year.
