Ukrainian game developer Podoba Interactive has unveiled its upcoming project, I Hear the Forest, a folk horror title that blends cozy wilderness management with unsettling supernatural elements.
In the game, players take on the role of a forest ranger who has fallen under a mysterious curse. While the core gameplay incorporates relaxing activities such as foraging for mushrooms, angling, and brewing recipes in a cauldron, players must also navigate a dangerous environment filled with bizarre threats. The woods are inhabited by surreal entities, including sentient trees, floating heads, distressed dryads, and strange figures lurking around the ranger's cabin.
To endure the curse and find a way to lift it, players will need to defend themselves using firearms and enchanted amulets. The title promises an immersive, atmospheric setting with a narrative that branches into several distinct endings based on player choices.
The studio previously developed Back to Hearth. On the game's Steam listing, the developer noted that generative AI was temporarily utilized for store page localizations, with plans to replace the automated text with human translations prior to launch. I Hear the Forest is currently scheduled to arrive on PC via Steam in 2027.
