PlayStation gamers have only seven days remaining to unlock the Platinum trophy in Infamous 2 before its online infrastructure is permanently decommissioned on August 31, 2026.
Although Sucker Punch Productions designed the superhero title primarily around a single-player narrative campaign, reaching full completion strictly requires active server access. The issue stems from a specific bronze achievement called the UGC Veteran trophy, which forces players to locate and finish 25 user-generated content missions. Once Sony turns off the servers, access to all community-built content will cease, making that bronze trophy—and the overarching Platinum trophy—forever unobtainable for future players.
The server shutdown does not mean the game is disappearing entirely from digital libraries. Infamous 2 will remain fully playable in offline mode, allowing players to experience the base story without interruption. However, the loss of online features permanently damages the game's achievement system, leaving trophy collectors unable to complete their profiles.
Many players had hoped that developer Sucker Punch or publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment would step in with a resolution before the deadline. Common requests from the community included patching the trophy list to remove the online requirement or automatically issuing the UGC Veteran bronze award to anyone who owned the game. Unfortunately, no updates or accommodations have been announced, suggesting the trophy requirements will remain unchanged when the servers go dark.
This looming deadline has caused a massive surge in player activity for the classic title. Data from PSNProfiles, which tracks community trophy unlocks to gauge game popularity, shows that Infamous 2 has maintained a spot in its top ten lists ever since Sony announced the closure last month. The game recently climbed to sixth place overall, making it the only pre-PS5 title inside the site's top 20 rankings and easily outperforming major blockbusters like Red Dead Redemption 2.
With only one week left before the server plug is pulled, time is running out for anyone looking to complete their collection. Players who wish to earn the Infamous 2 Platinum trophy must jump online and finish the required 25 community missions prior to the August 31, 2026 cutoff date.
