Players looking to enhance the Great Martyr's Blade in Mortal Shell 2 can unlock a powerful frost effect by obtaining the Warden's Stone. This specific Infusion Tarstone grants top-tier crowd control, making it a critical upgrade for heavy weapon builds. However, claiming the item requires trekking through high-level regions and defeating a boss named Urrig the Executioner.
The journey begins in the Abbey region, situated southeast of Marrow Keep. Adventurers must navigate from the Outskirts of Mammon through a siege camp filled with bear traps to reach the main path. Utilizing bone gates and jump pads, players can progress toward the Abbey Entrance Beacon before making their way to Sester's Gate. Once this point is reached, cleansing the gate allows entry into the snowy biome known as the Conqueror's Domain.
Within the frozen wastes of the Conqueror's Domain, players must advance toward a frozen lake until they arrive at the Winterglass Lake Beacon, positioned right before a broken bridge. Resting here restores essential health and resources. Unlocking the route to the boss arena requires using a ranged Sidearm to ring two distinct bells near the gap, with one located on the lower left side and another across the bridge.
Crossing into the arena triggers a battle against Urrig the Executioner. While Urrig is not overwhelmingly tough, he relies heavily on unblockable attacks and a status effect that can freeze players solid. Maintaining distance, evading incoming strikes, and landing calculated hits during recovery windows will eventually defeat the boss, yielding the Warden's Stone upon victory.
Once equipped on the Great Martyr's Blade, the Warden's Stone infuses attacks with Frost, causing standard enemies and most bosses to freeze after continuous hits. Fully upgrading the Tarstone makes this freeze property permanent, helping compensate for the weapon's slow attack speed. Additionally, the freeze effect directly triggers the third tier of Eredrim's Apathy skill, which boosts damage against frozen targets by 200 percent and effectively triples the player's offensive power.
