Arrowhead Game Studios has launched a major crossover bringing the Warhammer 40,000 universe into Helldivers 2, alongside the launch of the massive Devoid of Liberty content update.
The centerpiece of the collaboration is the Castellan's Creed Legendary Warbond, which takes direct inspiration from the Astra Militarum and its Cadian Kasrkin shock troops. Available for 1,500 Super Credits, the Warbond offers a range of unlocks that players redeem using Warbond Medals earned through missions. Consistent with the game's established progression design, this Warbond does not expire, granting players permanent access to progress through its tiers at their preferred speed.
The new arsenal consists of three themed weapons tailored to different combat roles. Marksmen can utilize the R/40-K Hot-Shot Marksman Rifle for long-distance accuracy, while the P/40-K Bolt Pistol delivers heavy damage in close-range skirmishes. To tackle heavily armored adversaries, players can equip the Meltagun as an anti-armor support option.
Players can also unlock two new protective suits: the medium-tier TG-8 Sharpshooter for extended firefights and the heavy TG-122 Demo Shooter. Both armor pieces come equipped with the True Grit passive trait, which improves weapon handling and increases the reload speed of support weapons. Beyond gear, the Warbond includes cosmetics such as capes, banners, player titles, and the Castellan's Green camouflage skin, which can be outfitted on Hellpods, Shuttles, Exosuits, and FRVs.
The accompanying Devoid of Liberty update delivers widespread changes to the broader galactic conflict regardless of Warbond ownership. The patch doubles the player level cap from 150 to 300, automatically awarding retroactive experience points to max-level veterans for past missions. It also adds 15 military ranks, computer-controlled SEAF soldiers to aid in combat, new enemy variants, Void-type missions, reworked assisted reload mechanics, and general system balance adjustments.
Originally released on February 8, 2024, by Sony Interactive Entertainment and co-developed by Arrowhead Game Studios and Nixxes, the third-person action title continues to grow its audience. The new update coincides with the game's recent entry into the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog, providing an incentive for both new recruits and seasoned players to join the battle.
