Indie title How to Fish has taken Steam by storm, selling over one million units within two days of its launch.
Developed by Dazed Games as their debut project, the cooperative physics-based title released on August 20 and quickly became a top performer on the platform. The studio officially confirmed the one million milestone shortly after launch, assuring players that future content updates and bug fixes are already in development.
According to SteamDB, the title achieved a peak of 268,101 concurrent players, demonstrating steady player growth since day one. Its rapid commercial success is particularly notable given the competitive release window, which coincided with high-profile betas and launches including Mortal Shell 2, Modern Warfare 4, and Wardogs. A launch discount reducing the price to $4.95 (£3.96) through August 27 also helped propel early sales.
Designed for up to four players, How to Fish puts a chaotic twist on traditional angling. Players aren't limited to standard rods, as the game equips them with firearms and explosives to catch aquatic life. The experience incorporates elements from first-person shooters—such as awarding bonuses for complex "trick shots"—and allows players to gamble their in-game currency.
