A scheme to fund a leaked Grand Theft Auto 6 development build through a meme cryptocurrency has spectacularly backfired. The leaker Cyberleek had encouraged investors to contribute at least $30 million to a digital coin, with early milestones tied to progressively explicit footage of GTA 6 co-protagonist Lucia Caminos. The strategy initially worked—investors rushed to unlock nude gameplay clips—but the market has since collapsed, leaving Cyberleek's ambitions in ruins.
Cyberleek structured the investment tiers around Lucia imagery, starting with bikini footage for a couple of million dollars and escalating to topless gameplay for several million more. The leaker promised fully nude Lucia content once the market cap reached $4 million, with 4K resolution clips available at $6 million. The final prize—a playable build of the entire game—would supposedly unlock at $30 million. Fans had been requesting such footage since the initial leaks began in August, and the prospect of exclusive nude material created immediate momentum.
The Peak and the Crash
The milestones were demolished within hours. The Cyberleek coin's market cap surged from under $1.7 million to a peak of $8.2 million, driven by what observers described as a frenzy among players eager to see the character's digital nudity. Social media filled with shared GIFs and videos of Lucia skydiving naked, alongside crude commentary about her body across thousands of posts. The leaker had correctly identified that explicit content would attract investment from players desperate for unreleased material.
The collapse came almost as quickly. Within less than 24 hours of reaching its high, the coin's value plummeted by 71 percent. Cyberleek had previously dumped developer tokens earlier in the year, meaning the leaker was not directly responsible for the crash. However, the bulk of the exodus appeared to come from outside investors withdrawing their funds en masse. While Cyberleek may have profited from transaction fees during the chaos, the scheme failed to retain the capital needed to reach even a fraction of the $30 million target.
Doubling Down and Facing Skepticism
Despite the collapse, Cyberleek attempted to revive interest by introducing new reward tiers. Fresh milestones promised gameplay clips of tank sequences, a private lap dance, and a beach massacre sequence. The leaker posted one set of incentives and then updated them with additional tiers within just a couple of hours, keeping the $30 million endgame prize in place. The strategy failed to gain traction. Players who had already invested and lost money showed no appetite for a second round.
Observers on social media quickly identified the fatal flaw in Cyberleek's approach. The leaker had made a critical tactical error by offering the most valuable exclusive content—explicit Lucia footage—at the lowest possible investment tiers. This meant that once players had seen what they came for, there was no reason to continue investing. Between now and the game's official release, Rockstar Games itself will likely showcase additional gameplay elements like tank or jet sequences. A Netflix Extended Look has already revealed police shootout scenes, and Rockstar has previously published screenshots of lap dance sequences.
The only content with genuine scarcity value was the sexual material, yet Cyberleek had already burned through that asset to generate initial momentum. One Reddit commenter noted that the leaker had overplayed their hand by releasing the Lucia nude footage too early. Another observer remarked that only inexperienced investors—described as horny high schoolers unfamiliar with financial management—would have participated in the scheme, and that Cyberleek had now alienated even that audience.
Grand Theft Auto 6 is scheduled to release on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
