Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026 will officially air on August 25, kicking off one of the video game industry's largest annual conventions with a two-hour presentation packed with world premieres, new announcements, and gameplay reveals. Geoff Keighley returns to host the live broadcast from the Koelnmesse exhibition center in Cologne, Germany.
The showcase is scheduled to go live at 11:00 AM PDT / 2:00 PM EDT. Fans watching from home can access the event entirely free of charge via official livestream channels, including The Game Awards accounts on YouTube and Twitch. Furthermore, numerous gaming content creators are expected to host third-party co-streams. For attendees interested in experiencing the broader week-long Gamescom convention on-site, entry will require physical event tickets.
This year’s showcase promises a heavy focus on blockbuster sequels and fresh additions to beloved franchises. Highlighting the schedule are anticipated presentations for Gears of War: E-Day, Final Fantasy 7: Revelation, and Silent Hill: Townfall. Audiences will also receive an initial preview of new content additions, such as The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Songs of the Past expansion, alongside reveals for Control: Resonant, Fable, and Metro 2039.
The lineup features a broad range of titles across major genres. Expected high-profile games include Alien: Isolation 2, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, Forza Horizon 6, Dune: Awakening, and Path of Exile 2. Show organizers have also confirmed appearances for Halo: Campaign Evolved, Persona 4 Revival, Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen, ACE COMBAT 8: WINGS OF THEVE, and DRAGON BALL XENOVERSE 3.
In addition, the broadcast will feature titles such as Star Wars: Galactic Racer, Monster Hunter Outlanders, Mega Man: Dual Override, Pony Island 2, Rayman Legends Retold, DayZ, and Planet Zoo 2.
Beyond the confirmed slate, reports hint that Xbox might reveal an unannounced secret sequel during the stream, building on its already disclosed convention presence. As the opening event for the week-long Cologne gathering, Opening Night Live serves as the central hub for developers, publishers, and players to preview the gaming industry's upcoming slate.
