Electronic Arts has publicly addressed early gameplay footage of its upcoming Iron Man project after the video began circulating across online gaming communities.
The leaked clip, which ran for approximately two and a half minutes, originally appeared on ResetEra and was marked as an August 26 test build. Responding to the unexpected dissemination, the publisher acknowledged on social media that the situation did not go according to plan, while promising that additional official updates will follow when the development team is prepared.
The brief video highlighted high-speed flight mechanics across expansive urban environments and open battlefields. It also demonstrated seamless transitions between aerial movement and close-quarters ground combat in quick succession.
In development at EA Motive, the title has maintained a low profile since its initial announcement four years ago. The studio's ongoing efforts come despite shifting strategy elsewhere at EA, which reportedly canceled a separate Marvel title focused on Black Panther.
This current project is not the character's only unreleased digital adaptation. Just Cause developer Avalanche Studios reportedly worked on an Iron Man title around 2012, which also saw footage surface online recently. Marvel's armored hero previously appeared in Square Enix's 2020 Avengers title, a release that received a mixed reception compared to the publisher's Guardians of the Galaxy game launched a year later.
