Grand Theft Auto VI will feature an unusually bizarre open-world mechanic allowing players to throw bags of dog waste at non-playable characters across Vice City, according to details revealed by a prominent content creator.
The unexpected gameplay element was shared by popular gaming YouTuber TGG in an extended breakdown video. The creator recounted details gathered during a visit to Rockstar Games' headquarters, where developers showcased early footage and discussed new interactive systems being designed for the highly anticipated title.
According to TGG, the information came directly from Rob Nelson, co-studio head at Rockstar North. Nelson described a multi-step interaction involving daily civilian routines throughout the game's virtual environment. The system builds on the developer's effort to make non-playable characters behave in a more believable and reactive manner.
To execute the absurd action, players must follow an NPC who is out walking a pet. When the dog leaves behind waste, the owner will proceed to clean it up and seal it inside a small doggy bag. At that moment, the player can attack or collide with the owner, causing them to drop the bag onto the sidewalk.
Once the item is dropped, the player character can pick up the bag of waste and throw it at surrounding citizens. TGG noted that while the feature highlights the franchise's penchant for dark and satirical humor, it also demonstrates the astonishing depth and complexity of the title's underlying open-world systems.
The announcement quickly generated amusement across the Grand Theft Auto community, with fans praising the studio's attention to absurd detail. Some online commentators even joked about completing niche gaming challenges centered around the mechanic, such as attempting a full game speedrun using exclusively dog waste as a primary weapon.
