Indie developer TMXN Games has announced Among Shadows, a dark fantasy action-RPG that blends monster-slaying survival gameplay with hidden-traitor mechanics. Set for release later this year, the title challenges players to cleanse a corrupted realm while figuring out which of their allies is secretly working against them.
In Among Shadows, players take on the roles of members of the Order of the Secret Fire. Dispatched to a region afflicted by a magical blight, the group must explore the landscape, defeat hostile creatures such as zombies and wraiths, gather loot, and upgrade their abilities. The central objective shifts when the Blood Moon rises, requiring the team to safely escort a local ruler and civilians to the map's boundary.
Survival is complicated by an internal threat: one or more members of the team are secretly covert traitors serving the underworld. These undercover saboteurs are tasked with spreading the plague, setting traps, and quietly taking out fellow players. To combat the threat, players can convene nightly meetings to discuss suspicions, share information, and vote to eliminate suspected traitors.
TMXN Games has published a cinematic trailer alongside a gameplay preview on the title's Steam page. Among Shadows is scheduled to launch on PC later this year.
