Upcoming action RPG The Blood of Dawnwalker will not include a 60fps performance option on PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X/S platforms when it releases on September 3.
Developer Rebel Wolves and publisher Bandai Namco recently revealed console footage detailing two distinct graphical settings. Players can choose between a Quality Mode targeting 30 frames per second with dynamic 4K resolution, or a Balanced Mode aimed at 40 frames per second at the same dynamic resolution. Even Sony's upgraded PlayStation 5 Pro hardware will be limited to these frame rate ceilings, though it promises improved visual fidelity across both options.
The lack of a higher frame rate option at launch has drawn criticism from gamers, many of whom expected a 60fps toggle, even if it required dropping the overall resolution. While some players remain optimistic that a post-release patch might introduce better performance settings later on, official confirmation regarding such updates has not yet been provided.
The game is helmed by director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, who previously served as the game director on The Witcher 3 and took on major leadership roles during the development of Cyberpunk 2077.
Despite the technical debate surrounding frame rates, early hands-on previews of the title have been largely encouraging. Commentators have praised the game's deep combat systems, time-limitation mechanics, and open-ended sandbox structure, positioning it as one of the most promising role-playing games in recent years.
