Dead by Daylight's annual Halloween celebration, Haunted by Daylight 2026, has returned with a fresh set of mechanics and seasonal rewards. The event introduces Void Energy, Void Portals, and Void Crystals as core gameplay systems, alongside roaming creatures called Void Haunts that hunt Survivors across the map. Both Survivors and Killers can participate in the limited-time festivities, which run until November.
Core Event Mechanics
The event revolves around three key resources: Void Energy, Void Portals, and Void Crystals. Each Trial begins with six Void Portals spawning across the map, two of which open automatically. Players must spend Void Energy to unlock the remaining four portals. Both Survivors and Killers can accumulate up to eight Void Energy per Trial by interacting with these portals and completing objectives.
Four Void Haunts patrol each map, actively searching for Survivors. These creatures dash toward any Survivor they spot and apply the Hindered status effect upon impact, then respawn elsewhere on the map to continue their hunt. This mechanic creates an additional threat layer beyond the Killer's direct presence.
Killer Abilities and Strategies
Killers gain access to three distinct Void Energy abilities, each costing four Void Energy per use. They can fire a Captured Haunt projectile that damages Survivors and interrupts their current actions, providing tactical control during chases and repairs. Killers can also teleport directly to Survivors who are collecting energy at Void Portals, enabling aggressive ambush tactics. A third option increases movement speed by 30 percent while damaging Generators or breaking Pallets and Breakable Walls, helping Killers apply pressure more efficiently.
Survivor Tools and Limitations
Survivors begin each Trial with a Void Crystal that occupies no inventory slot. Spending four Void Energy creates a temporary Fog Cloud that obscures vision and sound while suppressing Scratch Marks in its center, offering escape opportunities during dangerous moments. Alternatively, Survivors can spend eight Void Energy to place their Crystal on an incomplete Generator, which then repairs automatically at 0.8 charges per second for up to 30 seconds.
This remote repair system carries significant drawbacks. Survivors cannot manually repair the Generator while the Crystal is active, and they cannot collect additional Void Energy until the automated repair completes. Killers can destroy the Crystal by damaging the Generator, ending the effect immediately and forcing Survivors to restart their repair progress.
Event Rewards and Cosmetics
Participants earn Bloodpoints and Iridescent Shards through regular gameplay, alongside exclusive Halloween-themed cosmetics. Dark Trinkets serve as the event's temporary currency, obtained by completing Haunted by Daylight quests. Players exchange Dark Trinkets for event cosmetics and other rewards through the shop.
The quest collection's primary rewards are two new outfits: one for Killer The Hillbilly and another for Survivor Shane Wiigwaas. Additional cosmetics include skeleton shirts for Survivors Sable Ward, Jeff Johansen, and Adam Francis, plus Halloween masks for Killers The Trapper, The Unknown, and The Singularity. Customizable Charms, Badges, and Banners are also available as unlockables.
Login rewards can be claimed through the Messages from The Fog inbox, accessible from the main menu. The event runs through early November, giving players a limited window to complete quests and collect cosmetics before the seasonal content concludes.
