Game developer Dark Star has officially announced that its upcoming action title, Daba: Land of Water Scar, is slated to launch on PlayStation 5 in the spring of 2027. Following a long period of quiet development, the project re-emerged with fresh details and a gameplay trailer during Sony’s State of Play broadcast on September 3.
Set in a desolate world stripped of its essential life force, the narrative unfolds after the catastrophic collapse of the Sky-Pillars. This environment-shattering event leaves the realm completely dried up, forcing its remaining residents to struggle against fatal dehydration and a rapidly spreading plague while surrounded by fallen gods and ancient ruins.
Players take control of Adan, a humanoid clay vessel who unexpectedly stirs to life despite never being meant to awaken. Driven by a desire to discover his origin and purpose, Adan must navigate this hostile atmosphere filled with aggressive adversaries.
On the gameplay front, the title offers a distinct spin on traditional Soulslike mechanics. Rather than relying heavily on the standard roll-and-dodge defensive formula, the game places a core focus on dual-blade combat, timing-based parries, and aggressive counterattacks during combat encounters.
Narrative choices will also play a key role in shaping the journey, particularly toward the end of the adventure. Player decisions made during the final stretch will dictate Adan's ultimate destination, choosing whether he becomes a benevolent savior, a destructive entity, or ascends to divine status among the fallen gods.
