Kinetic Games has launched the second Quality of Life update for its multiplayer ghost-hunting title Phasmophobia, introducing condensed map layouts, streamlined evidence tools, and reworked death mechanics.
The patch is currently live for players on PC and PlayStation, with an Xbox release scheduled to arrive later. This update builds upon July's Quality of Life Part 1 release, which previously featured a redesign of the 13 Willow Street location alongside initial gameplay refinements.
A key element of this new patch is the addition of smaller Restricted map options for Point Hope, Brownstone High School, and Prison. These compact variants aim to accelerate investigations and offer player teams increased variety during ghost-hunting sessions.
Evidence tracking has also received significant changes. Players no longer need to constantly open their in-game journals, as cameras and sound recorders now display logged evidence via yellow LEDs and faded overlays. Furthermore, evidence and ghost selections made by teammates are now visible to the entire group to reduce confusion before hunts begin.
Virtual reality players will benefit from a more responsive character rig that tracks physical movement better, along with fixes for player-reported bugs. Additionally, character deaths have been altered so that players' skin turns grey and eyes turn mistier upon dying, while voice communication cuts off immediately at the moment of death.
These quality-of-life improvements follow Kinetic Games' announcement that Phasmophobia's official 1.0 launch has been pushed back from this year to 2027. The studio chose to delay full release to focus on polish after a negative reaction to its earlier Player Character Update.
In response to community dissatisfaction, the developer issued an apology acknowledging that the previous update missed expectations. Since then, the studio has released multiple patches and hotfixes based on player feedback to rebuild trust and refine the overall game experience.
