Developer Lovely Hellplace has released its retro-inspired tactical RPG, Entropy, into Steam Early Access. The new title from the creators of Dread Delusion combines classic PlayStation 1-style visual aesthetics with turn-based combat and permanent character death.
Set in a crumbling world depleted by global infertility and the slow march of time, Entropy follows a group of performers whose stage play is interrupted by a demon attack. Forced to combat the threat, the group sets off on an expedition toward hell itself.
In terms of mechanics, the game pairs traditional 3D overworld exploration and menu-driven battles reminiscent of classic Final Fantasy titles with soulslike elements and high-stakes survival. Party members can be permanently killed in battle, forcing players to carefully consider their strategy during every engagement.
The current Early Access release includes the complete first act, representing approximately a quarter of the finished game. This initial chunk offers two major settlements, three main dungeons, multiple side challenges, and a variety of gear and spells to discover. Lovely Hellplace plans to keep the game in Early Access for roughly a year while finishing the remaining two acts, and a free demo is available on Steam for players wanting to test the game before buying.
