Publisher Take-Two Interactive has initiated aggressive legal measures against the entities behind recent Grand Theft Auto 6 leaks, causing major distribution channels to shut down even as new material continues to circulate.
The enforcement efforts targeted the primary CyberLeek website along with an associated Telegram group, both of which suddenly disappeared. Visitors attempting to access the Telegram channel are now greeted with a standard notice attributing its removal to copyright infringement. These shutdowns follow formal subpoenas served to Microsoft and Discord by Take-Two, demanding that both technology platforms surrender identifying account records by September 4.
Despite these primary hubs going dark, the flow of unauthorized content has not entirely ceased. A seventh gameplay clip recently emerged on Reddit, demonstrating that those possessing the unreleased build still retain access to extra material. Previous leaks depicted co-lead character Jason navigating Vice City inside a high-end vehicle and firing weapons at a wall to spell out the word "leek," fueling speculation that external parties possess a functional build.
The CyberLeek entity publicly framed its disclosures as advocacy for player rights, but investigations revealed commercial motivations tied to a custom cryptocurrency called $CYBERLEEK. Followers were encouraged to buy the meme coin to vote on which video snippets would be published next, ostensibly to finance a secret project, though reports pointed toward personal financial gain. Meanwhile, online communities debated whether the affected Telegram presence was authentic or operated by impersonators, though both it and the main website remain offline.
Take-Two Chief Executive Strauss Zelnick publicly downplayed concerns regarding the security breaches, maintaining that the ongoing legal situation will not harm the game's commercial trajectory. His confidence appears backed by early commercial response; pre-orders for the title opened late last month and immediately climbed to the top of PlayStation Store sales rankings worldwide.
Rockstar Games continues development on Grand Theft Auto 6, which remains scheduled for a global launch on November 19, 2026. The anticipated title will be available exclusively on current-generation consoles, specifically the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
