A newly released gameplay trailer for Silent Hill: Townfall has provided an extended look at the upcoming horror title while outlining its console availability window. The video confirms that Sony's PlayStation 5 will hold console exclusivity for at least six months following the game's launch.
Scheduled for release on September 24 for PlayStation 5 and PC, the game will remain unavailable on competing consoles during its launch phase. Fine print embedded at the end of the video states that the title will not arrive on other console platforms until six months after its initial release date. This constraint points to a potential launch on systems like Xbox Series X/S or Nintendo's next platform starting around late March 2027, though Konami has not officially confirmed additional versions.
The 18-minute preview highlights main character Simon Ordell exploring Shorefront, a fog-laden district located on the fictional Scottish island of St. Amelia. Footage shows gameplay centered on searching residential homes and apartment units for items, alongside encounters with mysterious threats emerging from the mist. Notably, Townfall breaks tradition with previous mainline entries by adopting an entirely first-person perspective.
Development is being handled by Screen Burn Interactive, the studio previously known as No Code. Publisher Konami has partnered with Annapurna Interactive on the title, pairing indie narrative design expertise with the established horror intellectual property.
Townfall is part of Konami's broader effort to revive the franchise, which was formally rebooted during a major announcement event in 2022. That initiative introduced several projects, including Silent Hill 2 Remake, Silent Hill f, the interactive series Silent Hill Ascension, and the film Return to Silent Hill, followed later by the surprise release of The Short Message.
Series producer Motoi Okamoto previously noted that maintaining a strong psychological narrative is essential to the franchise's identity. He explained that keeping this narrative foundation intact allows the development teams freedom to experiment with widely varied gameplay mechanics across different releases.
