A newly surfaced video from a hacker collective named Cyberleek suggests the group has obtained an executable build of Rockstar Games' upcoming Grand Theft Auto 6.
The leaked footage features gameplay elements such as piloting an aircraft across Vice City and altering radio stations, alongside a sequence where the protagonist, Jason, spells out the group's name on a wall using gunfire. The video clips, which include QR code overlays soliciting cryptocurrency purchases, indicate that the intruders possess more than just pre-recorded video files.
Accompanying the leaks, Cyberleek issued a statement presenting themselves as advocates for consumer rights, criticizing practices like always-online requirements, digital pre-orders, and single-player microtransactions. However, established gaming advocacy initiatives have dismissed these claims, describing the group's declared mission as a cynical tactic designed to profit off gaming community grievances through crypto donations.
This incident represents one of the most significant security compromises for publisher Take-Two Interactive since a massive wave of development footage leaked in 2022. While the build shown appears to be an older development iteration, publishers are actively issuing copyright takedowns across social media platforms like Reddit to scrub the footage, though Rockstar has not yet publicly commented on the breach.
