Assassin's Creed Destiny, an unreleased entry in the long-running stealth franchise, has surfaced through leaked gameplay footage and screenshots. The cancelled project was developed by TiMi, a Tencent-owned studio, in collaboration with Ubisoft and was set during China's Qin Dynasty in 206 BCE. The game never reached players due to internal team restructuring at the developer.
The leaked materials showcase a female assassin on a mission to infiltrate a military palace, engage guards in combat, and locate a mysterious artifact. Footage from a February 2025 prototype reveals core Assassin's Creed mechanics including stealth takedowns, parkour movement, and the series' signature Leap of Faith ability. A distinctive feature shown in the clips is an umbrella-inspired spinning weapon, alongside ability icons styled after ink-brush artwork and HUD elements incorporating Yin-Yang symbolism.

Setting and Scope
Unlike Assassin's Creed Jade, which operates as a mobile experience, Destiny was designed as a full-scale historical adventure. The leaked footage depicts an expansive palace environment with multiple stealth and combat options for players to navigate. Early prototype materials also include a boss encounter featuring Xiang Yu, a prominent Chinese warlord, suggesting the game had planned significant narrative moments.
Why Development Stopped
No official statement has confirmed the exact reasons for cancellation, though reports point to TiMi's internal restructuring as the primary factor. Additionally, Tencent has reportedly shifted its strategic focus away from Western partnerships, instead prioritizing the development and release of casual gaming experiences for local markets. This broader business decision appears to have affected Destiny's viability.
What Comes Next
While Destiny remains shelved, Assassin's Creed Jade continues development as a mobile title. Ubisoft is also working on Assassin's Creed Hexe, which takes a notably different approach from the franchise's recent RPG direction and is scheduled for a late 2027 release window. The cancellation of Destiny leaves open questions about what other projects Ubisoft may have in development following this setback.
