Electronic Arts has updated the Squad Building Challenge mechanics in EA Sports FC 27 by introducing Streamlined SBCs, a new system designed to make turning in spare player cards less restrictive.
In previous franchise entries, completing an SBC required meeting strict criteria such as precise team chemistry, specific league or nation links, and exact squad rating thresholds. Streamlined SBCs replace these traditional squad-building constraints with a straightforward points target. Every card in a player's inventory possesses an assigned point value determined by its rarity and rating, allowing users to reach the required threshold by submitting any eligible items in their club.
While some Streamlined challenges may still enforce basic conditions—such as a minimum overall squad rating requirement—the new format provides significantly more flexibility. Players can submit bronze, silver, and gold items alongside duplicate cards that would otherwise clog up their unassigned items. Additionally, certain challenges offer partial completion tiers, granting intermediate rewards before the entire target score is fully met.
To complete a Streamlined SBC, players navigate to the challenge menu, where the game automatically filters and displays all eligible cards from their collection. Selecting cards adds their designated points to a cumulative progress bar until the target score is reached. For instance, earning an 83-rated Ayyoub Bouaddi player card requires amassing a target score of 20,000 points. Once the score requirement is fulfilled, players select the start option to review their selections and finalize the submission.
At launch, several Streamlined SBCs are available for players looking to convert unwanted fodder into upgraded packs or players.

This overhauled structure provides a direct solution for managing duplicate cards without needing complex external squad builders. By shifting focus toward pure card valuation rather than strict positioning and chemistry rules, the system streamlines menu management while maintaining squad progression throughout the season.
