Grand Theft Auto fans seeking an early taste of the upcoming series entry can now experience a refreshed visual layout in Grand Theft Auto 5, courtesy of a newly released custom modification. The fan-made project focuses on recreating the user interface and navigation map style revealed in recent previews of the next installment.
The modification, named "GTA VI Styled Minimap & HUD (Legacy)," was uploaded to the popular GTA 5 Mods website on August 31, 2026, by a developer going by the name sej0bec. The modification download weighs in at 157 MB and is crafted specifically for players using the legacy edition of GTA 5 on PC.
By replacing the standard in-game display, the project introduces a reworked minimap featuring updated borders, a fresh frame outline, and the distinctive pink waypoint marker associated with Grand Theft Auto 6. Other surrounding head-up display components across the screen have also been redesigned, giving the decade-old title a cleaner, more contemporary appearance while maintaining original gameplay features.
While recent extended looks at Grand Theft Auto 6 showcased high-end graphical features on base PlayStation 5 hardware, reworked wanted mechanics, and a minimap capable of displaying 3D satellite imagery for Vice City, this modification is purely a 2D graphical overlay. It applies the next-generation visual styling directly onto the existing Los Santos landscape, meaning players should not expect 3D structure rendering or live satellite views on their screen.
Installation of the custom package is restricted to the PC platform and relies on the widely used OpenIV tool. After obtaining the 157 MB download, users must drag the included OIV file directly into the OpenIV application window.
The OpenIV utility then automatically launches an internal package installer interface. From there, users simply select their dedicated mods folder and confirm the setup to complete the installation process, granting immediate access to the revamped navigation overlay.
